CalFresh, federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides monthly food benefits to families and individuals with low-income and stimulates economic growth in our local communities. Feeding the Foothills (formerly Placer Food Bank) is able to help members of our community apply to receive benefits. Our goal is to help as many individuals and families as possible with nutritional food options to increase food and nutritional security.
Below are some of the many benefits of CalFresh:
- CalFresh is the largest food program in California and provides an essential hunger safety net
- Receiving benefi ts helps to stretch food budgets, allowing individuals and families to aff ord nutritious foods
- The amount of benefi ts a household receives is dependent on household size, countable income, and monthly expenses. Such as housing expenses and utility expenses
- The program issues monthly benefi ts to an Electronic Benefi ts Transfer (EBT) card. Used the same way you would a bank debit card
- With your EBT card groceries can be purchased at any participating retailer as well as with online retailers such as Walmart.com or Amazon.com. Any purchases over $35 receive free delivery
