ROSEVILLE, CA  –  Placer Food Bank is once again proud to announce that Walmart has continued to support their hunger relief effort in the form of a generous grant award of $50,000. This grant supports the expansion of Placer Food Bank’s transportation and delivery into the areas of El Dorado County to serve partner agencies with resources through Placer Food Bank’s partnership with Feeding America.

“We are extremely grateful to have Walmart continue to support our organization in such a generous way. It is partnerships like this that allow us to continue our fight against hunger in our region,†said Dave Martinez, Executive Director of Placer Food Bank. “Due to Walmart’s generosity, our organization can continue to grow and support food insecure youth and their families. Not only here in Placer and Nevada County but also into El Dorado County where we are working closely with Feeding America.â€

The recent grant award from Walmart will support Placer Food Bank’s transport efforts in the way of funding a refrigerated delivery van that will be utilized to expand our outreach into El Dorado County. The addition of this specialized vehicle to serve this area will improve both travel and labor efficiency of Placer Food Bank’s staff and volunteers on a daily basis and present the ability to serve the El Dorado County communities by engaging local agencies in the procurement and delivery of local donated and purchased foods to serve the hunger insecure population.
